The movie "Thirteen Days" is about the Cuban missile crisis. It is told from the point of view of Special Assistant to The President Kenny O'Donnell (Kevin Costner). This movie covers the entire plot, but does not provide much of a political or historical context. It shows how President Kennedy (Bruce Greenwood) covered up the situation at the beginning while he prepared a response, and then, unlike other presidents told America exactly what was going on. The movie reveals how Kennedy took an unprecedented amount of control over the armed forces. The top generals wanted to go to war with Cuba, and Kennedy went around them and prevented armed conflict with delicate control.
