The Ice Harvest is a very entertaining, character-driven film. Apropos to its dark humor, all but a small portion of the action occurs at night as the two main characters attempt to make it out of town with a haul of cash stolen from a wealthy local power player. With a small town feel, it is clear that everyone knows everyone else, from the street cop to the prosecutor to the bartender. Getting a view of the seedy underbelly of even the most mundane place can be interesting. The complicating factor in the story, and the story's namesake, is an ice storm, which impedes simple escape from the town.
